Simple Halloween Chocolate Craft

10 Oct

Recently I saw a really basic Halloween craft on Pinterest that I wanted to emulate—chocolate bat treats!

I found an outline on About.com, and printed it on basic printer paper, since I was only planning on making 6 bats. I traced with a pencil on black cardstock. The pencil showed up great, and I erased any remaining outline later. Using the above template, you should be able to fit 4 bats to a page.

After cutting out the bats, I creased the wings so they would be partially closed.

I had purchased 6 of the “fun size” Hershey chocolate bars during my CVS shopping excursion last week. To attach them to the bat body, I used ZOTS adhesive dots that I already had. Double sided tape would also work great.

I didn’t have any googly eyes, so I created eyes by 3-hole punching white circles. I made green pupils using a smaller hand punch.

After assembling them all together, here’s what I ended up with! For a one-hour time investment and $1 in chocolate, I think it’s a great October gift to friends, coworkers and lovers!

What do you think of the final product?

Oh my, so clever and adorable — and the bats look great too!

Thank you for my little chocolatey treat! If it were a real bat left on my desk this morning, I would not have been too happy!
